John Hosea



I found out a Hosea fought in the Revolutionary War. Above is a letter John Hosea wrote. I have no idea if old John was related to us, but I sleep better knowing a Hosea served under General Washington.

As best I can tell, this is what John Hosea wrote.

Schedule of property belonging to the (unreadable)

A Private in the Army of the United States during the Revolutionary War.

Real Estate none

Personal Estate none

Occupation a house wright, but unable to work at my trade in consequence of old age, & infirmities.

Family, a wife, who is aged & an invalid.

Signed John Hosea

He served in the 12th Regiment (1777-1779) Massachusetts.

I looked up “house wright” it’s someone who makes house repairs.

You know Dad's mom was from Mass.
But Not sure where Dad's dad is from. It might be in his biography but I don't remember reading that.

I am looking for information on John Hosea dob 1725. Death 1796 Sussex Delaware. I have traced his family line to Shadrack Short Hosea dob 05-12-1810 sussex Co Delaware died 07-10-1881 Lee County Texas. I am seeking on information on where John came from. Any information will be appreciated.
